How to Apply for a New Electricity Connection in Pakistan (ENC Guide)

Step-by-step guide to applying for a new domestic or commercial electricity connection in Pakistan through the ENC (Electronic New Connection) portal.

Getting a new electricity connection in Pakistan - whether for a newly built home, a shop, or an industrial unit - is handled through the ENC (Electronic New Connection) system used by every DISCO. The process is entirely online for the application itself, though a physical site inspection and demand notice payment are still required before the meter is installed.

Before You Apply: What You'll Need

Gather these documents before starting your application to avoid delays:

  • CNIC copy of the applicant
  • Proof of ownership or tenancy (registry, allotment letter, or rent agreement)
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Load requirement details (sanctioned load in kW, based on intended usage)
  • A rough site location / GPS coordinates or a clear address for the inspection team

Step-by-Step Application Process

The application itself follows the same broad steps across all DISCOs:

  • Submit your application through your DISCO's ENC portal with your personal and property details
  • Select connection type: domestic, commercial, industrial, or agricultural
  • Specify your required sanctioned load
  • Wait for the DISCO's field team to conduct a site feasibility inspection
  • Receive and pay the demand notice (the connection cost, which varies by load and distance from the nearest pole/transformer)
  • The meter is installed and the connection energized after payment is confirmed

How Long Does It Take?

Timelines vary by DISCO and how far the property is from existing infrastructure. A straightforward domestic connection with an existing nearby pole can be completed in a few weeks after the demand notice is paid; connections requiring new poles, transformers, or longer cable runs take longer since additional civil works are involved.

Tracking Your Application

Once submitted, you can track your application status - feasibility, demand notice generation, payment status, and energization - through the same ENC portal using your application/tracking number.
