Residential Solar & Electricity Tariffs - How They Fit Together
How domestic tariff categories, slab rates, and fixed charges relate to rooftop solar savings and net-metering credits in Pakistan.
Disclaimer: This page is general information only. Tariffs, net-metering rules, and DISCO procedures change-verify with your distribution company and official NEPRA materials before making purchase or wiring decisions.
Tariff category stays with your connection
Your residential tariff class (A-1 and subcategories, protected vs unprotected where applicable) defines how energy charges and minimum charges are applied. Solar does not automatically change that class; it changes how many kWh you import.
Slab progression still matters for imported units. Strong solar months may keep you in lower slabs; weak months (e.g. heavy AC use with low sun) may still push imports up.
Reading the bill after solar
Look for net-metering or adjustment lines as your DISCO labels them, alongside import kWh and export kWh if your meter registers separately. Compare month-to-month with weather and load, not a single snapshot.
