How to Read Your HAZECO Bill โ€” Every Line Item Explained

HAZECO, Hazara Electric Supply Company, is the DISCO that bills electricity consumers in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Battagram and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is a subsidiary of WAPDA, regulated by NEPRA, and its monthly bills are generated through the PITC platform at bill.pitc.com.pk. Every field on your HAZECO electricity bill has a specific meaning โ€” this guide decodes each one so you can verify charges, spot errors, and understand exactly what you are paying for.

Top of the Bill

Consumer Details & Reference Number

The top of your HAZECO bill shows the consumer name, mailing address, sub-division office, and the tariff code (A-1, A-1a, A-2, B-1, D-1, D-2) that determines which slab ladder applies to your bill. Next to the address, the reference number โ€” a 14-digit identifier โ€” is used by every payment channel to look up the bill.

Meter Reading

Previous Reading, Current Reading & Units Consumed

๐Ÿ“

Previous Reading

The meter reading recorded last month. Your bill's units consumed = Current Reading โˆ’ Previous Reading.

๐Ÿ“…

Current Reading & Date

The reading taken this billing cycle. The reading date shows when the meter reader visited. If you suspect a wrong reading, compare to your physical meter today.

โšก

Units Consumed (kWh)

The net difference between current and previous readings. This single number drives every charge on the bill โ€” energy charge, slab determination, and taxes.

๐Ÿ”ข

Tariff Category

Your connection type: A-1/A-1a = domestic, B-1 = commercial, D-1/D-2 = industrial. The category determines which NEPRA slab ladder and applicable charges apply.

Charges Breakdown

Every Charge Line โ€” What It Means

โšก

Energy Charge

Units ร— the NEPRA-approved slab rate for your tariff category. Domestic consumers under 300 units/month may qualify for the protected consumer rate โ€” a lower rate set by the government.

โ›ฝ

FPA โ€” Fuel Price Adjustment

A monthly variable adjustment approved by NEPRA reflecting actual fuel purchase costs vs. the base tariff assumption. Can be positive (you pay more) or negative (credit on bill). See the FPA guide for detail.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Government Levies

Electricity Duty (ED), Neelum-Jhelum Surcharge (NJS), Tariff Rationalization Surcharge (TRS), and GST are statutory charges mandated by federal or provincial law. They appear as separate line items after the energy charge.

๐Ÿ“บ

TV Fee

A fixed monthly fee collected by DISCOs on behalf of PTV (Pakistan Television Corporation). Applied to all domestic connections regardless of whether the consumer owns a TV.

Payment Fields

Payable Amount, Due Date & After-Due-Date Surcharge

Payable within due date is the amount owed on or before the printed date. Payable after due date includes a late-payment surcharge set by NEPRA. Always pay before the due date using any channel on the ways-to-pay hub.

Arrears are unpaid amounts carried over from prior months. Adjustments are corrections applied by HAZECO (wrong-reading refund, solar net metering credit, etc.). An Instalment line means a prior settlement is being spread across multiple months.
