Check SSGC Bill →How Gas Bills Are Calculated in Pakistan — Slab Structure Explained
Pakistan's gas tariff is a slab-rate system based on monthly consumption in cubic meters (HM³). Unlike electricity where one heavy month can spike everything, gas slabs apply progressively to each consumption band — but the combined total still rises steeply once you cross into higher slabs during winter.
Energy (Gas) Charge
The main line item — cubic metres consumed × the slab rate. Slab rates are set by OGRA (Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority) and updated periodically.
Fixed Service Charge
A flat monthly charge for meter maintenance and gas supply infrastructure, applied regardless of consumption level. Varies between domestic and commercial connections.
GST (17%) + IDS
17% General Sales Tax on the gas charge plus a fixed Infrastructure Development Surcharge (IDS) levied by the government on all gas consumers.
Arrears
Any unpaid amounts from previous billing cycles are added to the current month's total. Arrears accrue late payment charges over time.
Gas Bill Pakistan — Common Questions
What is my gas consumer number?
Your SNGPL consumer number is an 11-digit code printed at the top of every monthly gas bill. SSGC uses a similar format. Keep it handy when checking bills online.
How are gas bills calculated in Pakistan?
Pakistan's gas tariff uses a slab-rate system based on cubic meters (HM³) consumed per month. Higher consumption moves your entire bill to a higher slab. Bills also include a fixed service charge, 17% GST, Infrastructure Development Surcharge (IDS), and any arrears from previous months.
Can I pay my gas bill online?
Yes. SNGPL and SSGC bills can be paid via JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank mobile apps, 1Link-connected bank branches, and designated post offices. You need your consumer number and the exact amount from your official duplicate bill.
What if my gas bill is unusually high?
First verify your consumer number and check the bill online to see the exact units billed. Compare with your meter reading. If there is a discrepancy, contact your nearest SNGPL or SSGC customer service centre with your consumer number and a copy of your bill.
